News: GIGABYTE launches free Cloud OC and Hotkey OC utilities – overclocking GIGABYTE mobos just got even easier!

image

We are launching two free OC utilities today that will work on an extensive range of GIGABYTE mobos. Cloud OC allows you to monitor, tweak and control your system remotely from any web browser capable device (netbooks, notebook PCs, iPads, smart phones and even other desktop PCs). Possibly the most practical application for Cloud OC would be to use it to monitor and tweak OC settings on the fly during benchmarks that require you to run them in full screen mode, such as the 3D mark range from Futuremark. A normal PC setup with 1 monitor would not allow for this. You’d have to buy a 2nd display in order to keep an eye on your settings, temperatures, voltages, etc… Cloud OC is available for free and will work with your netbook or smart phone, and most PC enthusiasts have at least one of those…

We have prepared a press release, video and microsite with additional info. Netbooknews.com, Overclocking-TV and HKEPC have also prepared some videos for your reference.

Hotkey OC allows you to jump between system profiles on the fly, i.e. while the benchmark is running. These profiles can be set using GIGABYTE’s EasyTune 6 utility, and then Hotkey OC simply allows you to assign specific keyboard keys to up to 4 profiles. It was designed for benchmarks such as 3D Mark 06 that run two graphics tests, then two CPU tests and then another two graphics shader tests – so it allows you to run your system on a graphics optimized profile for the graphics tests and a CPU optimized profile for the CPU tests. Hotkey OC is available for free and will work with every GIGABYTE motherboard currently in production.

Find out more from the official GIGABYTE press release, microsite or video. Overclocking-TV has also prepared a video with a live demonstration.

Very cool to find out that the GIGABYTE motherboard you purchased a year ago suddenly has additional features that come for free wouldn’t you say? Tell us what OC features you’d like to see on future GIGABYTE mobos by leaving a comment below.

Week 7 GIGABYTE Fans Discussion Winner of a GIGABYTE X58A-UD3R

Last week was quite a dramatical week for the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, while tradition strong teams like Brazil, Argentina had lost to their competitors, and winning teams advancing to the semi-finals vying for the championship. However, in the Week 7 of Searching for GIGABYTE’s #1 Biggest Fan, we have a winner from Argentina! Congratulations to Andrés S. Miglio from the Buenos Aires – Argentina. You have won a brand new GIGABYTE X58A-UD3R motherboard!

The question for Week 7 was: Are you a Gamer? What type of games do you normally play on your PC? Example: FPS – Crysis, Online Games – World of Warcraft..etc. What features would you like to see on a Gaming Motherboard?

We have received lots of great ideas and inputs from you all and hopefully your ideas will be implement in our future products, thanks everyone!

Gaming, gaming and gaming! With GIGABYTE's company EVERYTHING is possible.

Gigabyte's high-end motherboards are the best performing ones because they are made to last thinking in all of those people trying to break out the limits of 3D graphics using the pure power as well as possible to make the game enthusiast be immersed into the extreme graphics and have the best gaming experience.

Cool things for me for Gigabyte motherboards? SURE! Maybe some are possible and some others may be a little crazy. So huge electronics knowledge it's necessary...but for gaming and gamers the battle field is open.

1) Game FPS Hardware Counter placed at the top of the first PCI-E x16 (up to down).

2) Hardware power consumption module (maybe not mounted on the motherboard) that shows also the variable load states and voltage line of all the connected devices such as video cards, drives, fans, memory, etc.

3) Visible device connectors with different blinking backlight colors depending on the type and color of the connector that shows the activity of the device, like memory connectors illuminated, SATA ports, all type of PCI-E connectors, etc. (like the UV effect).

4) Peltier system to cool down chipsets or any other components with heat pipes.

5) Exclusive gaming packaging, with more games bundles and the best configurations possible for them, GIGABYTE's Exclusive Gaming adhesives designs to stick them on the Case.

6) A kind of 'AUTO BOOST' button to instantly OVERCLOCK the hardware to the more extreme, optimal, and stable configuration automaticaly for the time of gaming to acquire the very best according to the user hardware installed.

7) The creation of a GIGABYTE Exclusive Gaming character… to be represented on all gaming platforms with GIGABYTE’s products inside.

8) As my favorite games are all type of racing games...like all Need For Speed's,Dirt2, Grid, Fuel, Burnout, Split Second, Blur, etc. and I'm a fan of them and I love to enjoy the best gaming quality that GIGABYTE offers to me....It would be great a software utility from GIGABYTE to control all the gaming devices in only one application such as driving wheels, joysticks, gamepads etc. and to be able to make profiles depending on the gamers choice, like personalized profiles..

Good job
GIGABYTE! I’m a fan!

We are sure that you will have greater gaming experience on this new X58A-UD3R motherboard, Andrés.

For those of you who did not win this week's X58A-UD3R or have just learned about our Search for GIGABYTE’s #1 Biggest Fan event, don't worry, we will be give away including 3 GIGABYTE X58 motherboards, as well as the grand prize of a trip to Taiwan for GO OC 2010. hicookie squeezes his 980X and X58A-UD9 to new W.R. heights

hicookie was busy this weekend it seems taking back some World Records with the X58A-UD9. It looks as though there is more left in the tank. The memory clocks are looking nice indeed with the Corsair GTX2 hitting around 2100Mhz CAS6-6-6-18 in tripple channel.

GIGABYTE motherboard team donates some X58A-UD3R boards for a good cause

A good friend of mine, Dave, known better as movieman on XtremeSystems, is a strong supporter of finding a cure for cancer and other diseases by "crunching" numbers on "World Community Grid" or WCG. He mentioned in one of our chats that if GIGABYTE was to have some spare boards around he would find them a good home with people dedicated to the cause. GIGABYTE sent 6x WCG members our X58A-UD3R(rev2.0) boards and they have already been put to good use and are crunching away as we speak.

You can read some more about it here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=254678

What is WCG you ask? Please pop over to XS forum and read some more. If you like what you see and want to help the humanity with your unused computing power you can join the team and start crunching yourself.

The martial art of overclocking – Go OC China 2010

image

Over the years we’ve held Go OC events in some pretty cool places such as Bangkok, Beijing, Prague, Jakarta, etc… This year is no different because on June 25th the Go OC China regional final was held in an ancient Buddhist monastery rumored to be the secret meeting place of martial artists who come to fight for the glory of being the best fighter in the region. A very apt location for Go OC don’t you think?

image

When all was said and done Stephen Yeong from Team HK-Centralfield (Hong Kong) emerged the champion with Wing from team Speedtime (Beijing) and Hero Ou from Team China (Guangzhou) taking 2nd the 3rd places respectively.

You can visit the official Go OC 2010 China regional final  website here and there is a comprehensive write up on xtremesystems.org with loads of interesting pictures.
